Wednesday, June 8th we had Sherri Perih, Consultant for Math and Science K – 4 from the Manitoba Department of Education in our school. She was also visiting other schools in the division - I believe her visit had something to do with the project that she conducted with some of our schools last year. Linda Girling, also from the Dept accompanied her.
We spent an engaging morning with Sherri - she had a variety of math activities planned for our mixed group. They thoroughly enjoyed their time with her.
From a teacher's perspective, it was great just to watch good teaching. Even though there were no surprises, she confirmed what I knew about my students' mathematical abilities (and weaknesses). I will definitely be going back and exploring the activities further that she shared with us since I made concise notes.
Very worthwhile morning - THANK YOU, ladies!
