Artwork by the K - 3s
Our snowmen turned out wonderful. I was impressed and so were the kids. I read The Biggest Best Snowman Ever by Margaret Cuyler to the kids and they drew a snowman that was so big, it didn't fit on the page! Thanks to Jacquelien for the detailed instructions from http://kidsartists.blogspot.com/.

Wheat FieldOur wheat field is golden, tall, wavy and yellow like the sun. Wheatfield are found around our colony. We ship wheat and keep some of it. Gold and yellow wheat fields come in fall when leaves are red, brown and orange and start to fall to the ground.
A.W, Grade 3 April 12, 2011 BershabaBershaba is a horse. I think she is cute and has nice colours. Her colours are brown and white with white patches. She’s one of our best riding horses, but sometimes she’s stubborn. But mostly she behaves well and is very kind. She lives in a paddock with wire and wooden fences. The barn is dirty yellow and is metal. The barn and paddock are about 20 metres from our house. Since they’re so close to our house, I often go there. I love horses and I love to ride! Usually I go to them on Saturday and Sunday because there is no school.
S. W., Grade 3 April 12, 2011 About The PeterbiltI like the truck called Peterbilt. Our Peterbilt is really black but there was no black modeling clay, I used blue to make it. The truck is nice because blue is my favourite colour. The truck is parked outside the shop. The truck is parked on the south end. The important thing is, I like trucks because my father is a mechanic. The Peterbilt is just about always kaput.
TW, Grade 3 April 12, 2011 Galaxy We got Galaxy on Thursday after supper. Shawni was overjoyed. She almost ran to the car. He was shy at first but he got used to Decker Colony. He stepped on Shawni’s couch. And when her alarm-clock rang he jumped up on Shawni’s bed!
R. W., Grade 2 April 12, 2011 GypsyGypsy is a horse; she is big and black. Gypsy is my favourite horse in Decker. I love her - she is beautiful. It is fun watching her and feeding her oats. She lives beside the all barn in a bale shed.
T.W. Grade 2 April 12, 2011 DreamerDreamer was a black and white rabbit. He was cuddly and furry. He ate carrots and salad. He drank water. His cage was on the porch. My Dad brought him when he went away. And when he came home, he got a cage in his hand; in the cage was a rabbit!

Our GardenOur garden is nice. I go there when it’s hot. I would say when it’s a little warm and a little more. That’s when I go there. It’s at the right side of our house and it’s full of flowers. If you are far away, it would be colourful. It’s very nice.
N. W., Grade 2 April 12, 2011 Planting The sun is shining. My dress is red and my mom’s dress is blue. I am watering our flowers. I’m using a hose to water our flowers. My mom is watching me.
G.W., Grade 1 April 11, 2011 Flowers I’m planting the flowers. I’m watering the plants. My mom says what to do. The flowers smell good. The sunflower is yellow.

Easter Egg Dioramas
Our Easter egg diorama idea came from thatartistwoman. We wanted to do a true representation of Easter so we put crosses in ours instead of rabbits. The kids were very comfortable with the idea that the eggs represents new life and with Christ's death on the cross, we have been given an opportunity for a new life.
The dioramas didn't quite work the way I thought they would. For one, our balloons were too big; however, these were little hands making these so maybe it was just as well. We enjoyed doing them and our metallic paint on the outside of the egg worked really well!
